Lynette started dancing, at the age of 15, in 1984 at Pine Rangers Square Dance Club, Clontarf. Taught to dance by Alan Leighton, it wasn't long before she realised that she wanted to do more than dance and very quickly took up Calling and Round Dance Cueing. When Alan retired from active calling in 1985 to persue other interests, the opportunity to call regularly presented itself. Within a year, Lyn was calling for Pine Rangers and also running her own Round Dance Club, Sunshine Rounds, which ran for 10 years.
In 1986, Lyn won the Qld Callers Association's Amateur Callers Contest. That was the year she also joined Wavell Whirlaways and has danced there ever since. For many years she has cued the Rounds for Sid and Betty at Wavell and also guest calls there as well.
Lyn has cued and called for many weekend festivals over the last 28 years, including the Gympie Goldrush, Summer Holiday and Winter Wonderland. One of the highlights of her dancing career was being asked to join the East Meets West team - Brian Hotchkies, Barry Wonson, Kevin Kelly and Steve Turner as their Cuer for the weekend dances. Having travelled to many locations to work with the "Boys" over the years, Lynette topped it off in 2011 as the Round Dance Cuer for Brian's Hotchkies special Anniversary Dance to celebrate 50 years of Calling.
Lyn (nee Warrington) married Grahame in 1994 and they have two daughters - Felicity (17) and Amelia (14). Lyn called for Pine Rangers for 15 years and only closed the club when Felicity was diagnosed with Leukaemia as a 4 year old. Thankfully, Felicity responded to treatment and with the pressures of family life easing, Lynette realised that she was missing club calling.
In 2009, Lyn started Sunshine Square & Round Dance Club. Back teaching in her old hall at Clontarf, it was like she had never been away.
A strong friendship and mutual respect for each other has seen Lyn & Sid work together on many projects including 1999/2000 New Years Eve party, Society AGM Dances, 2011 Sunshine State Roundup and this Convention. In February 2012, Lyn and Sid Leighton decided to run a "Beginners Class with a difference" at Taigum. This class is now a strongly supported club, Taigum Twirlers, dancing weekly, on Saturday nights, with plenty of variety - Square Dancing, Line Dancing, Round Dancing and Old-Time Dancing.
Lynn was awarded the ACF Silver Microphone award in April 2019 at the 60th ANSDC in Deloriane, Tasmania
